The
Adopt-A-Trail gives us the opportunity to give back to the environment that
which we enjoy so much, and allows us to help ensure that the forest is available
to ALL people and all activities. It proves that we can responsibly enjoy our
chosen sport without irreversibly damaging the surrounding environment.
Each trail is different, but this is a list of the typical maintenance that maybe required:
·
Removing logs and brush that encroach on the trail
·
Install, repair, and clean water bars or other drainage structures
·
Provide protection for stream crossings, meadows, and wet
areas
·
Place rocks or logs on trail for better traction
·
Maintain trail to the designated rating
·
Remove traces of any use that occurs off the designated trail
·
Remove litter and any foreign items from trail
·
Install, maintain, and replace trail markers
· Install, maintain, and replace signs and bulletin boards as needed

Since 1998 our Membership
has been dedicated to keeping these trails in optimum condition, in accordance
with the Annual Maintenance Plan developed each year after the Spring Thaw.
We teach our
Members and Guests about the need to cooperate with the National Forest,
as an important piece in keeping the trails open for our use and the use
of future generations.
